The solar panel installation (PV) process can take anywhere from one to three months or more. Surprisingly, the actual installation of the panels may only account for a day or two. Most of the time required to get your solar system up and running is spent on design, permit approval, and the final inspection of your system. There are a lot of hoops to jump through, but we will handle the process for you!
Hover over the the timeline above and click on the link that appears then you’ll see a brief outline of each step in the Solar Panel Installation Process and a ballpark idea of how long that step should take.
Our Solar Panel Installation Process
My goal is to keep you informed as we progress through your solar panel installation and your new solar energy system is complete and online.
My roadmap of the steps will take you from the beginning of step 1 through commissioning (commissioning is when your system is turned on and starts generating clean energy).
We handle all of these steps for you, and reach out to confirm when any action or signatures are required.
Before construction, we will submit the application, the application fee and provide all needed documents.
The post-construction NV Energy process will require you to sign a Net Metering Agreement and Incentive Claim Form. We will reach out once they are ready and ensure everything gets signed and submitted.
NV Energy will review the completed documents and after a few weeks, they will come set your meters. We can then turn everything on and start generating solar energy!
If you have any questions during the process, don’t hesitate to reach out. I will send you occasional emails as we progress to keep you up to date on what’s to come.
Not Every Solar Panel Installation is the Same
At Great Basin Solar we identify opportunities for you to save money. Most people these days recognize the value of clean solar energy and protecting the environment. Solar energy prices have dropped to a point where both of these goals align in a unique investment opportunity. Our job is to find the best design and investment strategy for your solar panel installation project, so you can benefit from clean living, energy cost savings, and lock in energy rates, all with a product that increases the value of most people’s biggest investment, their homes.
While a timeline of two months is about the average, variation is more common than not. Every home is different, and every project has its own unique set of challenges. Some regions with large solar energy markets, like California, often advertise solar panel installation times of just one month. In other regions with slower permitting processes, approval can take three or more months. Project re-designs can also extend the timeline. Once you’ve gone through these steps, you’ll have a reliable and productive solar energy system that can easily produce electricity for 25 or more years.
